I have pretty much ditched iTunes when it comes to purchasing music. I still use it to manage my music but with their unique song formats it becomes a pain when I want to load a song onto one of the kids mp3 players.
Instead I’ve been using Amazon.com to buy and download mp3s, then import into iTunes. First, all their songs are .99 – can’t say the same for iTunes.
Second, they have AWESOME deals if you keep any eye out.
Like this one. Audrey Assad’s new album (yes, the WHOLE thing) for $2.99. I discovered Audrey Assad for the first time last winter when I heard “Winter Snow” on Chris Tomlin’s Christmas album. I pretty much listened to it on repeat all Christmas season.
Love this album. Of course I was impatient and bought it when it first released. I’m appeasing my guilt by passing the great deal on to you. I think it’s for today only, so hurry!
If you want to get notified of great deals, follow Amazon Mp3 on Twitter.

You should also check out napster.com they have membership plans that is $5 a month and that include 5 song purchase credits so for the month fee you can stream the majority of their music library on your computer AND get 5 songs. The credits will purchase any song regardless of price. They also have deals if you buy full albums just like everyone else as well as a napster plus mobile membership that adds the ability to load up your phone or mp3 player with all the songs on their library with no need to purchase. There are a few groups that only allow you to buy their tracks not stream them as well as some who wont let you buy a single track only the album but its not so many that I don’t keep my membership. So in reality the credits you get included each month allows you to buy those tracks that might be restricted and then stream everything else for free.
Anyway its worth a look. I pay $15 every 3 months (and get 15 credits) but I have had that plan for awhile not sure if they still bill in those increments because all I saw was either monthly or yearly.
