This will be our second adoption. We chose foster-to-adopt the first time. We picked Jacob up from the hospital when he was two days old, and adopted him in 2012 shortly after his first birthday! We had two other placements that were returned home. That was a hard journey for us. This time we are pursuing a domestic infant adoption through an agency.
We have done several fundraisers and have some others planned. We did a yard sale in the summer time. We did fairly well, but next time will definitely need to advertise better.
We also sold t-shirts on adoptionbug.com. This didn’t work so well for us. You can only chose 6 designs, and it didn’t really match a wide variety of personal tastes.
We are planning on doing a spaghetti dinner and silent auction in October.
We are also set up on gofundme.com for people to just donate. We are almost at $2500 in just one month.
We also did a fundraiser through thredup.com. You send in your old clothes and they buy them off of you. The criteria for acceptable clothes were strict, but we did fairly good with this. They also will match donations up to $1000.
We are always looking for new and creative fundraising ideas!

Each Friday I’ll feature a different fundraising adoptive family. My hope is that we can support each other and also learn from each other. For submission guidelines, go here.
